Why Was It Parked ?

I'm always curious as to why a bike has been taken off the road and it's story. In this case, it appears there was a minor mishap that resulted in some cosmetic damage, but really nothing too serious. Why that would then lead to a full disassembly is difficult to fathom, but that is what happened. The bike came to me from under Fred's staircase where it had sat fully in bits and in boxes for many, many years. There were a number of bits missing - some transmission parts, a few electrical - but a key missing item was a decent exhaust system. As a part of the deal - a parts bike was included. The parts bike had some 1977 'B' parts in it, but was actually a 1976 'A'. I stripped what I could from it and then passed the carcass on to a bone yard.

I had bought a couple of sets of the Delkevic reproduction exhausts so the exhaust issue was in hand - the rest of it was just the usual paint, chrome and repair.

I 'recycled' components from my '1978' custom which I built in 2008 - it now no longer exists, but photos of the build may still be seen here.
