E0 Japanese T/GT500 Models
Based on Japanese parts book listings, the Japanese market T/GT500's were the same as those sold elsewhere and in contrast to the later GT750 for example, also used the same engine and frame numbering. One noticiable differenence is that the the 1971 model in Japan was called the GT500, and also started at a higher frame number than those sold elsewhere. Another Japanese market parts manual seems to indicate that the last GT500 sold in Japan was T500-51588 which would have been a late 1972 model.
Looking through JDM sales material, I do not see the GT500 listed in the 1974 and later brochures, indicating that for the domestic market at least it was not offered.
Minor points of interest:
- An examination of the JDM parts manuals does not show the 80 kph speed warning relay, warning light and special speedometer as seen on the later triples.
- The tire pump (09821-00002) is listed as being a standard item for all four JDM models (I, II, III and GT500).
