Far East Internal Combustion Engine Mfg., Tokyo, 1954-1993
極東内燃機製作所
Far East Internal Combustion Engine are listed in the Japanese language wikipedia site. This company appears to have only made engines for dirt track and sprint race machines. The engine was called the Kyokuto (キョクトー号), which was originally styled after an AJS. According to the Wikipedia entry, between 1955 and 1965, this engine was in half of all race bikes in Japan during that time period. The engine shown is a model KE612, and is a DOHC, 4 valve of 612cc displacement released in roughly 1986, so quite late in the engine's development cycle. The photo of the motorcycle is a 350cc version and appears to be a quite earlier version from the late 1950's/early 1960's.
