The Iwata Machine Company Limited was actually founded in 1873 and is still in business today. In 1953 development of the B.I.M motorcycle started and is a essentially a direct copy of a 1951 BMW R 51/3. Only one model was produced, the B.I.M. B1 which was manufactured between 1955 and 1960 with very little change. The B1 was a 24 hp, 500cc flat twin with shaft drive, plunger rear suspension and telescopic front suspension.
