No cooling fan was fitted, and the thermostat housing casting lacked the threaded hole required for the fan sensor.
The crankcase was new (11300-31852) for late 1976/1977 having a 'notch' at the rear of the upper engine casting making it quite distinctive in appearance - also missing is the left side 'wall' that the oil lines fitted into making the oil injector lines visible from the left side of the engine.
note that some late production 1976A's also had the 'v-notch' engine case - engine 81191 for example.
Other changes included a change to the gear selector drum to add an oil seal (09284-16002) and a shorter needle roller bearing on the outboard end of the selector drum (09263-16012). See also service bulletin GT-38.
The housing on the gear indicator sending switch was changed from metal (37710-31211) to be plastic (37710-31212).
The final drive ratios were changed - specifically the 16 tooth drive gear (27511-31000) was changed to a 15 tooth (27511-33600), and the driven sprocket changed from 43 teeth (64511-31700) to be 40 teeth (64511-31770), and as well the chain then needed two less links (from 106 to be 104). These changes were factory installed from frame 74377 on-wards.
At some point during the last year of production, the riveted metal plate on the generator was changed to a foil label.
