The 1977 model year frame number was new (41100-31201-019) and was now missing the mounting lugs for the cooling fan.
The front fork ears were now semi-gloss black as was the headlight bucket and frame side covers.
The front and rear turn signal lenses were orange and a new 'GS' design, which resulted in new part numbers for the front fork ears (51530-31710-291 and 51540-31710-291) and rear turn signal mounting brackets (41640-31600 and 41650-31600) having square holes to accommodate the square bases of the new signal arms.
The rear tail light was a new 'GS' design, single bulb unit (35710-31210) for General Export. Some countries did not get the updated version - please refer to the Country Specific Versions section for additional detail.
Brake hoses were the same as were used in 1976.
The small 'Suzuki' labels on the brake callipers were smooth (not embossed) black foil labels and the letters were
silver.
The calliper mounting bolts heads were cadmium plated, not chromed, and the sides of the heads of the bolts holding the two halves of the calliper together were smooth, not knurled.
The master cylinder used a plastic fluids reservoir. There was a front brake indicator switch incorporated into
the underside of the casting.
The mirror threads were 10mm and the anti-vibration adapters included as standard equipment were now painted satib black - the
mirrors had the Suzuki 'S' stamped on the metal rear surface.
The front fender was a new 'GS' style having no stays.
The horn was chromed and a new 'vented' style.
The gauges used metal housings, and changed to having a brown face rather than blue.
The under plates were the same as used in 1973.
The pilot lamp case was new in 1977. The high beam warning light was changed to blue (1974, 1975 and 1976 were each red), and the gear indicator lens was mauve.
Note some late model A's also had blue high beam indicator lamps - frame 67122 for example
The head stock number plate in North America at least was a foil label glued to the head stock - I do not yet have confirmed data on other countires.
The ignition key used a 3 digit code, and was double sided.
The rear shocks used the short upper chromed shroud as was used in 1976.
The front forks were the same as used in 1976
The fuel tank was the same style as used in 1976, having a semi-gloss black painted keyed metal cover hiding the radiator and fuel filler caps. Warning decals were applied as shown in the Label Location section of the Guide.
Outside of North America, the passenger grab rail continued to be installed as standard equipment.
The right and left side handle bar controls were externally unchanged from 1976, although the part number was updated due to a change internally. Refer to the Country Specific section for controls specific to your country.
The chain guard was chromed steel.
The inner rear fender was plastic.
The aircleaner box was changed to a simpler (cheaper) design (13700-31212 changing to 13700-31213).
