Kawasaki Gifu Seisakusho, Nagoya, 1953

川崎岐阜製作所

Kawasaki's Gifu manufactiruing facility is listed in the Japanese language wikipedia site. In 1953 it produced a short production run (perhaps 200 machines) of a small scooter. It used a Kawasaki industrial KB-2 engine with 59.8 cc displacement, had a two speed gearbox, and supposedly had a maximum speeed of about 45 kph. It is possibly the first consumer version two wheeled machine to have the Kawasaki name on it, as while Kawasaki did supply engines to other manufactures post WWII and through the 1950s, and also sold a line of machines under the Meihatu brand, they didn't brand machines with their own name until after the purchase of Meguro in the mid 1960's.
